THE ACCOMMODATION
THE DRIVER OF THE COMMODORE HOSTEL
I’m French, 28 years old and I’ve been passionate about surfing for more than 10 years.
Before driving the bus, I’ve worked for 2 years as a business developer in a start-up after finishing my studies. In 2017, I gave up my old life behind to pursue a dream: building & running my own surf hostel. One thing leading to another I ended up driving one.
One day I bought a school bus, found a farm to park it and I worked on the construction. Believe it or not but at the start, I had no clue what I was doing. I’ve never used a screwdriver before getting into this. Hopefully, I received a lot of help from my family and my friends. In the end, it took me a year and a half to build the hostel and to have all the papers in order.
Since May 2019, The Commodore Hostel is on the road and I have never been enjoying life so much.
THE COMMODORE HOSTEL
GOING ON SURF TRIPS IN FRANCE, PORTUGAL AND MOROCCO
The Commodore Hostel is a unique surf hostel that moves according to the seasons and surf forecasts. The interest is to park as close as possible to the surf spots in search of the best waves and to enjoy nature to the fullest.
A stay on board The Commodore Hostel allows you to get closer to nature by discovering the surf spots and all the environment that surrounds them. It is also the best way to meet passionate surfers by sharing sessions and moments of life on board.
A CONVERTED SCHOOL BUS
The hostel takes place in a 1984 Renault school bus. The vehicle has been entirely restored and rebuilt into a cosy and mobile accommodation to host up to 8 people. The bus is designed and equiped to bring the best comfort during the surf trips. The surfboards are fastened on the rooftop, hangers so wetsuits can dry, indoor and outdoor shower and a big fridge to grab a beer after surfing.
TAYLORED FOR OFF-GRID JOURNEYS
The bus is 12m long Renault coach, it’s 2,5m large and 3,14m high (without the surfboards). It is tailored for off-grid journeys. The hostel is autonomous in energy and has big water tanks to go on remote places and to look for the best waves. If it’s ON, why not staying?
Want to have a better look at the spot? Get on the wood made rooftop terrace. Up there, you’ll have a 360 view on the spot while having coffee or after surf drink, reading a book, or just chilling.
